NC Services Group Ltd. (“NCSG”) and its subsidiary Northern Crane Services Inc. was recognized by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (“SCRA”) as a finalist for Rigging Job of the Year (>$750,000) at its annual event on April 20, 2012 in Austin, Texas. NCSG and Northern Crane’s nomination was for the dismantling of the Kroll K-10000, the world’s largest tower crane, at a Syncrude Canada site near Fort McMurray, AB in 2011.

NCSG’s President & CEO Ted Redmond and Hugh Yake, the project manager, presented the many challenges of disassembling a massive tower crane while working at heights of over 300’ in the middle of a busy plant site under schedule and with zero incidents. Innovation, careful planning, in-house engineering, and a top-rate crew were the main factors in completing this job successfully under extreme conditions.

Although NCSG did not receive the award, the presentation was very well-received  by the approximate 500 industry colleagues and media representatives in attendance. American Cranes & Transport (ACT) magazine covered our nomination in their May 2012 Issue - "SC&RA Jobs of the Year".
