Established in 1987 and known previously throughout western Canada as Northern Crane Services, NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services Ltd. (NCSG) has quickly grown to become the largest Canadian-owned crane company. In 2006, NCSG acquired Northern Crane Services, the springboard for NCSG's growth strategy in western North America. Shortly thereafter NCSG acquired A-1 Crane of Grande Prairie, Alberta and Parkland Crane Service of Stony Plain, Alberta. In 2013, NCSG acquired Grizzly Crane, the leading supplier of fully operated and maintained crane rental services in the Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd regions of British Columbia, and Doug's Crane, the only full service crane rental company situated in Prince Rupert, BC. NCSG is strategically located in Edmonton (Acheson), Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Fort St. John, Regina, Tumbler Ridge, Prince Rupert, Terrace/Kitimat, Bonnyville, Wabasca, Calgary (Crossfield), and Drayton Valley to service project sites throughout Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. NCSG has a significant presence in Canada’s oil sands region and is a primary contractor in both maintenance and new construction to major energy companies such as Encana, Devon, Cenovus, Syncrude Canada and ConocoPhillips Canada.
NCSG was the first crane rental house to import Liebherr all terrain cranes into Canada and currently operates the largest Liebherr fleet in North America.
NCSG expanded into the United States in 2008 through the acquisition of Mullen Crane & Transport bringing 30 years of experience servicing the crane and transport needs of the western United States. Now operating as NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services, Inc. this US division is located in strategic areas from the Bakken region of western North Dakota/Montana to the Gulf Coast with strong ties to refinery and wind energy customers.
