Andrew "Andy" Fraser, President & CEO
Andy lives in the Edmonton region and comes to NCSG with significant Canadian and International experience through various senior leadership roles over 30 plus years with Finning International, the world’s largest distributor of Caterpillar products and services. His roles at Finning included Executive Vice President of Customer and External Relations of Finning International, President of Finning’s Canadian Business, Managing Director of Finning UK and Ireland and various branch management, sales and product support roles.
For the past two years, Andy was the CEO of Camex Equipment a specialized transportation equipment company with 700+ units serving the Western Canada and North American construction, energy and infrastructure markets. Through these roles Andy has developed an in-depth knowledge of NCSG’s key markets and has developed strong senior customer relationships in NCSG’s relevant oil & gas, petrochemical, mining and other industrial markets. Andy holds a B.A. in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University, a MBA from Royal Roads University and is a certified director (ICD.D) with the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Darin Coutu, Chief Financial Officer
Darin Coutu has been NCSG’s CFO since 2010 and acted as Interim President from August 2018 until January 7th, 2019. Darin is a Chartered Accountant and seasoned finance professional with over 20 years of senior finance experience including as CFO for three publicly traded companies. In his previous roles, Darin has had experience running the finance, accounting and treasury functions of companies with operations across Canada and the United States. Darin also has experience with mergers and acquisitions and the integration of acquired companies.
John Woulfe, V.P. Sales & Marketing
Since starting with NCSG in 2013, John Woulfe has managed massive projects for our largest customer (Syncrude - FFTC, AMR, and MLMR projects) and has led NCSG’s Heavy Lift department. John has 30 years’ experience in the civil engineering and crane industry encompassing contract and project management with overall responsibility for contract negotiation, planning and execution made him the perfect candidate to lead NCSG’s Sales & Marketing department as Vice President.
Tim Bennett, V.P. HS&E, Technical Training, and Quality
Tim Bennett has over 20 years of increasingly senior safety experience with such companies as North American Construction Group, Enbridge Pipelines, and Gibson Energy. Additionally, Tim presides as Chair of the Occupational Heath & Safety Council for the Government of Alberta. Tim holds several professional safety designations: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), a certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Transportation Safety Director, Construction Safety Officer, and Safety Codes Officer (SCO). His formal education includes an OHS Certificate from the University of Alberta and an Executive Competency Program from the University of Alberta School of Business. On his own time, Tim is a casual professional Firefighter EMT with the City of Spruce Grove and a Dangerous Goods Technician.
Andy Popko, V.P. Indigenous Relations & Major Accounts
Andy Popko is responsible for indigenous joint ventures and relations as well as major customer accounts. His 35 years of business experience includes over 10 years leading notable indigenous relations initiatives for such companies as Encana, where he was VP Aboriginal Affairs, and Enbridge. Andy has been an active member of many boards including the Indigenous Works and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. Andy is an Honorary Chief for Heart Lake First Nation and was presented a Life Time Achievement Award for his outstanding work in providing pioneering innovative capacity building programs from the Tribal Chiefs Institute of Treaty 8. This was the first time this award was presented to a non-indigenous person.
Bonnie Smith, V.P. Human Resources
Bonnie Smith has over 20 years of human resources experience in the construction and the public sectors. Prior to joining NCSG, she worked on designing and developing an HR department for Praetorian Construction. Bonnie also served as the Canadian and US Director of HR for Aluma Systems (Brand Energy and Infrastructure) where she oversaw the HR function for 3500 employees.
